License and Content Use

r-statistics.co publishes two kinds of material, and they are licensed differently. Please read the section that applies to what you want to use. If you are unsure which category something falls into, or you want to use anything in a way this page does not cover, write to support@r-statistics.co and ask. We are happy to grant permission for reasonable uses.

1. Free tutorials and articles

Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0

The free written tutorials and articles on r-statistics.co (the pages you can read without signing in or paying) are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International license.

You may

Share and redistribute a tutorial in its original, unchanged form.
Quote from it and link to it, for teaching, study, or reference.
Use it for non-commercial purposes.

As long as you

Give clear credit to r-statistics.co and link back to the original page.
Do not present it as your own work or imply we endorse you.

You may not

Use it commercially, including reselling it, putting it behind your own paywall, or republishing it on an ad-supported or lead-generation site at scale.
Publish a modified, translated, or derivative version (the "NoDerivatives" term). You may of course learn from it and write your own original material.
Remove attribution or the license notice.

Code samples are more permissive. The short R code snippets shown inside the free tutorials are provided so you can learn and build. You may use them in your own projects, including commercial ones, without attribution. This carve-out applies only to the code itself, not to the surrounding written explanation.

2. Courses, lessons, exercises, tools, and certificates

The interactive courses and lessons, graded exercises and problem sets, the online tools and calculators, the certificates, and every paid or account-gated feature are the original work of r-statistics.co and are not released under Creative Commons. All rights are reserved.

When you enrol or subscribe, you get

A personal, non-transferable license to access and use this material for your own learning.

You may not

Copy, reproduce, download in bulk, scrape, mirror, or redistribute the course, lesson, exercise, or tool content.
Share your account, or resell, sublicense, or republish any of it.
Use it to build a competing product, or to train or fine-tune a machine-learning model.

3. Name, logo, and brand

The "r-statistics.co" name, wordmark, logo, and visual identity are not covered by the Creative Commons license and may not be used without written permission, except for plain, factual attribution as described in section 1.

4. Datasets and third-party material

Some tutorials use built-in R datasets or other third-party material that carries its own license. Where that is the case, that material stays under its original terms, which take precedence over this page.

5. Permissions and commercial licensing

Want to use something beyond what is allowed here, for example in a paid course, a workshop, a book, or a company training program? We often say yes.
